A1 Bespoke Joinery ltd can supply and fit bespoke joinery made to extremely high standards. We are experienced in creating windows, doors, staircases, built–in furniture.

In many cases these have been found to be beyond economical repair, or may even have been removed from a building altogether.

Timber windows and doors are aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. All made to measure from our carpentry workshop in North London N6, our bespoke pieces are always created to your exact requirements.

Bespoke Timber Frame Windows

We can create any shape timber frame window to fit and size space, using timbers and styles of your choice. Modern techniques are used to improve thermal quality and sound proofing levels while we still use traditional joinery methods to create the best looking window possible.

Bespoke Timber Doors

A beautiful entrance is a fundamental architectural feature, combining function with aesthetics. Whether you’re looking for an external or an internal door for your project, we can create bespoke doors that suit the style and requirements of your property.

Bespoke Staircases

We are happy to design and manufacture the staircase to your exact requirements from start to finish. Complying with building regulations, A1 Bespoke Joinery ltd can incorporate features to the staircase such as continuous hand rails, turned or carved newel posts and spindles as well as intricate metal work and glass.

As manufactures of quality purpose made joinery; we can create any custom made timber piece for your home or business. From shop fronts, timber windows and doors to fitted furniture and wooden spiral staircases we can bring your ideas to life.

Listed Buildings or Conservation Area.

Case Study: The first double-glazed Grade II Listed Building in Greenwich - Timbawood

A1 Bespoke Joinery ltd does work on listed building and/or within conservation areas. 350 year old design of the sash window is highly refined & can be quite varied, so we respect it constantly during our operation.

With listed buildings and conservation regulation, the original (or newer) windows will be protected. As a result, if they require replacement you will have to apply for planning consent. We avoid the need for this with our ‘like for like’ maintenance & repair. We simply respect the design and do not deviate from it so retrospectively, nothing has changed but the condition of the window.

Do I Need Planning Permission to Replace Windows?

Planning permission is not normally required to replace windows, unless buildings are listed or located in Conservation Areas (where it applies to the ‘principal elevation’, usually the one facing the road). However, replacement windows installed after April 2002 should have Building Regulations approval. The exception is where you’re replacing the glass but not the whole window.

Building Regulations.

When replacing old windows with new ones, there are several considerations to make relating to areas such as thermal performance, safety, ventilation and means of escape. In most cases, using FENSA registered installer means new windows will comply without involving local authority building control as they ‘self-certify’ the installation.
